Tudu Mighty Jets FC as part of her preparation for tomorrow’s match against Amidaus engaged the Mandela Soccer Academy boys in a friendly but a gruelling encounter on thursday, the 30th of july 2015. It turned out to be a perfect preparatory game for the Tudu boys ahead of the Sunday game which also promises to a grueling encounter as either side is very determined to take home the 3 maximum points at stake. It ended 1-0 in favour of the Tudu boys but they will be the first to admit that those Academy boys were no push overs and have quality to compete even in the Division One.
The game gave me an opportunity to have a close look at the players of the Academy who were excellent on the day. But for the experience on the part of the Tudu boys in terms of their players on display, they would never have won the match as the Academy boys took the game to them right from the blast of the whistle for the beginning of the game.
Emmanuel Boye featuring in his first game after a return from his loan spell in Sudan got the winning goal on the 83rd minute which gave him and his colleagues the needed boost and confidence ahead of the Sunday game.
Jones Owusu the central defender of the Academy who doubles as a player of the national U-17 team of Ghana was outstanding and in fact it was his presence at the rear of the Academy team which made it difficult to break down.
At the end of proceedings, the goal scorer Emmanuel Boye had this to say:
We have been in a very tough friendly. The attitude of my boys was fantastic right through the game and in fact that contributed to our winning the context in the end. We will approach the Sunday match in much the same way and hopefully Amidaus will fall and we will go on to win our subsequent matches so we finish the season on a high.
The game against Amidaus which is the the 25th week fixture of the 2014/2015 Division One League will be played on Sunday, the 2nd of August 2015 at the Teshie Military Academy and Training School ( MATS) Park.
